The mission of the University of the Incarnate Word School of Optometry is to educate and prepare future leaders in optometry through excellence in education, patient care, vision research, and public service, within a context of faith and personal development.

The Mission of UIW School of Optometry Clinical Program

The mission of the University of the Incarnate Word School of Optometry Clinical Program is to provide exemplary vision care to the population of San Antonio and south Texas that advances the local and global community, public welfare, and common good.

 

Goals of UIW School of Optometry:

Teaching & Learning

Goal: To foster an effective and integrative learning-centered environment that provides opportunities for intellectual, personal and professional growth for students, staff and faculty; implementing innovative educational programs enabling graduates to possess entry level standards for the contemporary practice of optometry.

Patient Care

Goal: Provide exceptional, patient-centered, comprehensive, accessible vision care in an integrated clinical curriculum.

Vision Research

Goal: The School of Optometry shall foster and enable research and scholarly activity as a foundation for exceptional clinical care.

Community and Public Service

Goal: The School of Optometry will enable and support faculty, student and staff to nurture, sustain, and further the mission of the University in serving the local and broader communities of south Texas.
