Transfer Admissions Policy
Admission by transfer for students with advanced standing is available on a very limited basis and usually only when a vacancy exists. A student at another optometry school who wishes to apply to UIWSO must meet the standards and requirements for admission had he or she applied here originally. In addition, the student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.00 in the optometry curriculum, be in good standing with his or her present institution, and demonstrate a compelling need for wanting to transfer to this institution.
Transfer is not generally recommended as students may lose credits in the process. No students accepted for transfer will be allowed to go directly into a UIWSO fourth year class.
Students wishing to transfer must submit the UIWSO application for admission, a statement of good standing from the current dean of their optometry school, and all supporting documentation (i.e. official transcripts, letters of evaluation, OAT scores) for consideration of admission.
