Faculty and professional staff in the UIWSO optometric professional program all hold doctorate or terminal degrees and other qualifications (OD, MD, PhD, MBA, JD) from various universities and schools & colleges of Optometry such as the University of Missouri – St. Louis College of Optometry, Southern College of Optometry, University of California Berkeley School of Optometry, University of Washington in St. Louis, University of Houston College of Optometry, University of Texas, University of Missouri School of Law, Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, University of Mississippi Medical Center, University of Alabama at Birmingham, Syracuse University, University of Texas Health Science Center, and Texas A&M University.

Experiences of the UIWSO faculty encompass a wide range of backgrounds including private practice, optometric & professional-level education, clinical research, military optometry, and multi-disciplinary clinical practice.

The School of Optometry faculty and professional staff have diversified post-doctoral distinctions and extensive training, including residencies or fellowships, advanced degrees, certifications and Academy of Optometry diplomate status.

UIWSO faculty members also have an established record of scholarly and research activities resulting in hundreds of publications, posters and continuing education presentations at professional conferences.
