Brian K. Foutch, O.D., Ph.D., F.A.A.O.


Dr. Brian K. Foutch is an Associate Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry where he teaches courses in optics, epidemiology, neuroanatomy and public health. Dr. Foutch received his Bachelor of Science in Physics summa cum laude from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Master of Science in Engineering from Purdue University, Doctor of Optometry and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Physiological Optics from the University of Missouri - St Louis, and Master of Military Operational Art and Science from Air University's Air Command and Staff College.

Dr. Foutch served over 22 years in the US Air Force in various clinical, research and program managerial roles. After serving in adjunct roles at several universities in San Antonio—teaching courses in general psychology, human perception and experimental design—Dr. Foutch joined RSO as the Director of Education and Curriculum in 2011. He is currently the coordinator for clinical grading and the course coordinator for in-house third year clinic.

Dr. Foutch is well-published in the areas of color vision, macular pigment, clinical case reports, health science pedagogy and medical humanities. He serves as an industry consultant for human factors and perception and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. He is also a member of the Texas and American Optometric Associations.
