Matt Sin Valdes, OD, FAAO

Associate Professor

Matt Valdes earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University, College Station, in 2007. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2011 from the University of Houston College of Optometry and completed a residency in low vision rehabilitation at the same institution the following year.

He joined the University of Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry faculty in 2012. As an Associate Professor, he has been actively involved in the development of various didactic courses such as geometric optics, ophthalmic optics, low vision rehabilitation and interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP). He is also a clinical preceptor for third and fourth year interns.

He received his fellowship within the American Academy of Optometry (2013) and has been invited to present papers and posters regarding low vision and IPE. Matt serves on the Texas Optometric Association (TOA) Board of Trustees and chairs the Communications committee.
