Assistant Professor / Chief of Bowden Eye Care and Health Center
Dr. Nekima Williams is the Chief of Bowden Eye Care and Health Center and a clinical assistant professor at the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. She provides patient care as an attending optometrist at the Eye Institute, is a lead professor for both the basic contact lens and advanced contact lens courses and assists in teaching labs for the cornea and contact lens courses. Dr. Williams is also a co-advisor for the RSO private practice club and participates in community service with the optometry students. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Immediately following, she received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During that time, she completed her externships at Quantico Naval Base in Quantico, Virginia and Maplewood Advanced Eye Care Center in Wichita Falls, Texas. Since graduating she had been in private practice throughout San Antonio focusing mainly on primary care, anterior segment disorders and specialty contact lens care. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association and the Bexar County Optometric Association. She spends her spare time with her family and works at her bakery, Knead This Cake Custom Pastries.
