Indirect Binocular Ophthalmoscopy
One examination procedure — called binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy or BIO for short — may be the most difficult and stress-provoking examination technique new clinical students face.
In addition to regular supervised exams on patients, using a traditional instrument, Rosenberg School of Optometry students can improve their clinical examination techniques and reasoning skills by using the Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscope Simulation System/
Each new student is issued an Apple iPad at the time when they enter the program. Students will enjoy lifelong access to all of their textbooks through Vital Source and engage in exams through Exemplify software. Additionally, students will have access to apps that will enhance their learning experience, both in and out of the classroom.
Two of the student laboratories are equipped with SMART Boards. These interactive technologies help to provide a greater level of detail and depth to faculty instruction in preparation for clinical rotations.
