Allan McCleary, OD

Senior Clinical Instructor

Dr. Allan McCleary is a senior clinical instructor and licensed therapeutic optometrist at UIWRSO. His passion for teaching stems from a two-year mission for his church in Siberia, Russia and three years spent teaching the Russian language to young adults. After graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in public health, Dr. McCleary attended and graduated summa cum laude from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn. During school, he was involved in several clubs, organizations, and the school's student ambassador program. While in optometry school, he discovered a love for pediatric optometry and binocular vision. After graduation, Dr. McCleary completed a residency in pediatric optometry, vision therapy, sports vision and neuro-optometric rehabilitation at Neuro-Vision Associates of North Texas in Plano. He fell in love with the Rosenberg School of Optometry while interviewing for a faculty position and is blessed to be involved in several of the courses, labs, and clinics at UIWRSO. He has a tremendous love for his co-workers, his patients, and especially his students at the school. While Dr. McCleary is happy to be an optometrist at UIWRSO, he counts being a husband and father his greatest roles. He loves to spend time with his wife and two daughters, serve in his church, play golf and explore the trails of San Antonio.
