Jeff Cleland, O.D., MBA, F.A.A.O.

Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Cleland is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Incarnate Word where he emphasizes his experience in specialty contact lens fitting and ocular surface disease. Dr. Cleland spent 28 years serving in the United States Army, in his last assignment he served as the Director of the Ocular Trauma Division at the US Army Institute of Surgical Research and the Capability Manager for Sensory Research for the Department of Defense. He has served as the Optometry Consultant for the Southern Regional Medical Command and as the Chief Brooke Army Medical Center Optometry Service. Dr. Cleland served as the Director of the Sensory Research Division at the US Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory where he managed and conducted eye and vision performance related research. Dr. Cleland received his BS from Central Washington State University, his OD from Pacific University College of Optometry and his MBA from Northeastern State University. He completed residency training in Primary Care Optometry at Northeastern State University and obtained Fellowship training at the Boston Foundation for Sight.
