Nekima Williams, O.D.

Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs / Clinical Assistant Professor/ Director of Externship Programs

Dr. Nekima Williams is the Chief of the Bowden Eye Care & Health Clinic, the Director of Externship Programs for 4th year clinical rotations and a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry. She provides primary and specialty contact lens patient care as an attending optometrist at the Eye Institute and is a lead professor for both the Basic Contact Lens and Advanced Contact Lens courses and labs. Currently, she is working on research with her fellow colleagues on the perceived clinical preparedness of 4th year students. Dr. Williams is also a co-advisor for the RSO private practice club and participates in community service with the optometry students.

She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Immediately following, she received her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry. During that time, she completed her external clinical rotations at the Quantico Naval Base in Quantico, Virginia and Maplewood Advanced Eye Care Center in Wichita Falls, Texas. Since graduating she had been in private practice throughout San Antonio focusing mainly on primary care, anterior segment disorders and specialty contact lens care. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association and the Bexar County Optometric Association. She spends her spare time doing outdoor activities with her husband, daughter and two dogs and works at her bakery, Knead This Cake Custom Pastries.
