Matt Sin Valdes, OD, FAAO

Associate Professor

Matt Valdes earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University in College Station in 2007. He received his Doctor of Optometry in 2011 from the University of Houston, College of Optometry and completed a residency in low vision rehabilitation at the same institution the following year.

He joined the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry faculty in 2012. As an associate professor, he has assisted in the development of various didactic courses such as, geometric optics, ophthalmic optics, low vision rehabilitation and interprofessional education and collaborative practice.

He is also a clinical preceptor for 3rd and 4th year interns. Matt actively serves on the American Academy of Optometry’s Low Vision Diplomate Executive Committee, the American Optometric Association Membership Development Committee and is currently the president of the Texas Optometric Association.
