Dr. Ashleigh Yates graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Chemistry Minor and a concentration in Mandarin Chinese. She continued her education at the Illinois College of Optometry where she earned her Doctorate in Optometry in 2020. While attending ICO, she co-founded the Black Student Union and was a member of the National Optometric Student Association, Gold Key International Honor Society, and College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). She was also honored with several awards for leadership and service to the community.

After completing optometry school, Dr. Yates completed a residency in pediatrics, binocular vision and vision therapy at Wow Vision Therapy in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dr. Yates' passion for developmental optometry stemmed from her own experiences with vision-related learning disorders. She is motivated and excited to help patients reach their full potential through vision therapy and rehabilitation. She became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2023.

Dr. Yates is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Pediatrics, Vision Therapy and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation departments. She also serves as the Chief of Pediatrics.
